Men's Support Group

WOW ! We continue to have monthly meetings in the area churches. Dec. 6th we meet at Browntown there were 12 men in attendance but these men are not the choosen frozen, they are on fire. Help us pray that God will bring more men to these meetings, they are filled with God's presence and His aproveal on what we are doing.

THIS WEEKS PRAYER

This week ask the Lord for “godliness with contentment” which is great gain. Delight in Him as He unfolds His will for your life. DON'T GIVE UP ON TRUST

One woman describes herself as "five feet, three inches tall and pleasingly plump." After she had a minor accident, her mother accompanied her to the emergency room. The triage nurse asked for her height and weight, and she blurted out, "Five-foot-eight, 125 pounds."While the nurse pondered over this information, the woman's mother leaned over to her. "Sweetheart," she said gently, "this is not theInternet."The Internet is becoming known as a place where the truth is not readily apparent. I've learned from the Internet that I have extremely wealthy acquaintances in Africa that have enormous sums of money they need to transfer out of the country. They literally contact me everyday! And if I will only help, they will gladly share a portion of their bounty with me and I'll become an instant multi-millionaire. Others promise me wealth beyond my wildest dreams if only I invest in an up-and-coming business venture. Daily, the Internet reminds me that greed can lead to disaster; that not everybody has my best interest in mind and I must be sensibly cautious.But in most relationships, I would rather trust than shut others out.I would rather be taken advantage of by a few than isolate myself from everybody. Perhaps not everybody should be trusted, but I would hateto experience life without it.Ralph Waldo Emerson put it well: "Trust men and they will be true to you; treat them greatly and they will show themselves great."Children will more often live up our high expectations than not.Friends and colleagues will generally show themselves to be dependable. THIS WEEKS PRAYER

Spend priority time with God this week and pray for increased passion, worldwide revival and a harvest of souls. When praying for Israel, Iraq and all nations remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers and rulers of darkness. The Lost Tomb of Jesus ?

Here are comments by Samuele Bacchiocchi, Ph. D.,

Several Adventists have asked me to comment on the newly released book and movie that allege that the tomb of Mary, Joseph, Jesus, and Mary Magdalene have been found in East Talpiot, a suburb of Jerusalem. The documentary promoting this view is entitled "The Lost Tomb of Jesus," and/or "The Jesus Family Tomb." It was aired on the Discovery Channel on March 4, 2007.

The documentary was spearheaded by a well-known Emmy-winner TV Director Simcha Jacobovici and produced by Oscar-winner "Titanic" Director James Cameron. These men argue that the bones of Jesus, Mary, Mary Magdalene, along with lesser-known relatives, were found in 1980 in a Jewish burial cave containing 10 bone boxes, called ossuaries.

In many ways the movie and the book expands the Da Vinci Code fiction that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and the had children. The difference between the two is that while in the Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown builds his case by using late gnostic heretical gospels, Jacobovici and Cameron use names inscribed in some bone boxes as well as gnostic gospels. Both movies and books attempt to destroy the foundation of the Christian faith by denying the Resurrection of Jesus. If it were true that Jesus never resurrected because his very bones and those of his family have been found, then as Paul puts it, "our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain . . . and we are of all men most to be pitied" (1 Cor 15:14, 19).

The 1980 Ossuaries' Discovery

The documentary is based on several bone boxes (ossuaries) that were found in an ancient tomb unearthed by a construction crew in 1980. That year marked a construction boom in Jerusalem. The result was that hundreds of tombs were uncovered containing thousands of bone boxes (ossuaries).

In Christ's time it was common for wealthy Jewish families to build tombs in the hills throughout Judea and place the remains of their loved ones in those caves. The procedure was to place a newly dead body on a rock shelf for about a year. When the flesh had desiccated it was customary to gather the bones and place them in a small limestone chest called "ossuary." Sometimes the name of the deceased would be inscribed onto the outside of the box. Eventually the caves became so crowded with bone boxes, that to conserve space several skeletons were placed in the same box. First century limestone bone boxes are so common in Israel today that they are used as planters in gardens and living rooms.

Though tombs' discoveries are very common, the Talpiot construction crew immediately stopped their work when they unearthed an ancient tomb. They called the Israel Antiquities Authority, that sent a small team of archeologists to excavate the site. Under pressure from the builders, the archeologists worked fast. The human remains in the cave, were given over to the religious authorities to be reburied in accordance with Jewish law.

Ten bone boxes (ossuaries) were taken away to the Israel Antiquities Authority warehouse. Six of them had inscriptions to remind family members of whose bones the boxes contained. Here are the names found carved on the bone boxes of the Talpiot tomb: Jesus, son of Joseph; Maria; Mariamene; Matthew; Judas, son of Jesus; and Jose, a diminutive of Joseph.

One of the bone boxes even bears the title, "Judah son of Jesus," hinting that Jesus had a son. The claim that Jesus even had an ossuary of His wife and children, contradicts the Christian belief that he was resurrected and ascended to heaven.

Criticism of Archeologists

Archeologist Amos Kloner who oversaw the original archeological dig and wrote the official report, found nothing remarkable in the discovery. He says: "The names on the ossuaries are very common names or derivatives of names." In a Newsweek report he dismissed any possible connection with Jesus' family as "impossible." "It makes a great story for a TV film, but it's completely impossible. It's nonesense."

Joe Zias, the archaeology curator of the Israeli Antiquities Authority, dismissed the documentary as a "hyped-up film which is intellectually and scientifically dishonest. . . . Projects like these make a mockery of the archaeological profession" (Newsweek)."

Jacobovici disagrees very strongly with this criticism. He advances various arguments to prove the bone boxes found at Talpiot belong to Jesus Family. Competent archeologists find his arguments preposterous. For example, William G. Dever, a leading American archeologist who has been excavating ancient sites in Israel for the past 50 years, said to the Washington Post: "I have known these ossuaries for many years and so have many other archeologists, and none of us thought it was much a story, because there are rather common Jewish names from the period. It's is a publicity stunt, and it will make these guys very rich, and it will upset millions of innocent people because they don't know enough to separate fact from fiction."

Discrediting Considerations

The claims of the movie and book that the bones of Jesus's family have been found at the Talpiot tomb excavated in 1980, are discredited by the following factual considerations:

1) As far as we know, the earliest followers of Jesus never called Him "Son of Joseph." As a matter of fact, this is how Jesus was called by His opponents. This means that His family members would have never inscribed such a name on His bone box.

2) The ancestral home of Joseph was Bethlehem and his adult home was Nazareth. The family continued to live in Nazareth even after the death of Joseph. Why in the world would the family choose to carve an elaborate tomb to place their bones in a suburb of Jerusalem?

3) Even assuming that Jesus was buried, it would be most unlikely that He would be buried in or around Jerusalem, where Roman and Jewish authorities were searching for His body to disprove the widespread report of His Resurrection.

4) Jesus' family was a poor, peasant family from Nazareth, with an ancestral lineage in Bethlehem. There is no logical reasons for their bones to end up in a middle class tomb in Jerusalem. Furthermore, the picture of the Talpiot's tomb shows it to be ornately decorated. Only a middle class family could have paid for the carving of such elaborate tomb. Jesus' family did not have the resources to purchase the land and build an a decorated tomb.

6) The two Mary ossuaries do not mention anyone from Migdal (Magdalene), but simply Mary. This was the most common of all the ancient Jewish female name.

7) The tomb includes the names of people like Matthew, which do not match with the list of Jesus' brothers' names. In other words, the tomb includes names that should not be there and lacks the names of people who should be there.

Factual considerations such as these discredit the claims that the Talpiot tomb contains the bones of Jesus' family. All the ancient accounts confirm that Jesus' tomb was empty because He resurrected. Jewish and Roman authorities acknowledged this fact. It takes a year for the flesh to desiccate before the bones can be placed in an ossuary. Jesus' body was long gone from Joseph of Arimathea's tomb before then.

To believe that Jesus' body was placed in another tomb, dessicated, and then put in an ossuary, means to accuse James, Peter, and John of fraud and cover up. Could they have perpetrated a fraudulent religion for which they and others were prepared to die?

Prophetic Significance of The Lost Tomb of Jesus and The Da Vinci Code

We are witnessing today a concerted effort to destroy the credibility of the Christian faith, especially by attacking its Founder, Christ Himself. Hollywood has been at the forefront in launching these attacks. For example, in the movie The Last Temptation, Martin Scorzese depicts Jesus imagining Himself engaged in sexual activities.

In the Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown atempts to prove that Jesus married Mary Magdalene, and they had a daughter named Sarah, whose royal bloodline survives to this very day. In The Lost Tomb of Jesus, Jacobovici and Cameron argue that the bones of Jesus' family have been found. The names inscribed in the bone boxes allegedly show that Christ married Mary Magdalene and fathered their son Judah.

These sacrelegious movies are popular today because they appeal to our secular, postmodern, humanistic, new age culture which rejects moral absolutes of the Christian faith, such as the Ten Commandments, creation, final judgement and destruction of evildoers. Our postmodern culture promotes instead moral relativism, where truth is subjective, based on personal beliefs.

The moral relativism of our time that promotes a self-centered worship, has prophetic significance. It represents a clear fulfilment of Christ's prediction: "When the Son of man comes, will he find faith on earth?" (Luke 18:8). The false worship promoted today by books and movies like The Lost Tomb of Jesus, must be seen as players in the prophetic endtime battle between true and false worship. God's final appeal in Revelation is to come out of the false worship promoted by spiritual Babylon: "Come out of her my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues" (Rev 18:4).

Revelation portrays Satan like a monster with many tentacles, using different strategies (beasts) to win the battle over worship. Sacrilegious movies like The Last Temptation, The Da Vinci Code, and The Lost Tomb of Jesus, are one of the significant Satanic strategies. Our calling is to proclaim to the world God's final warning message: "Fear God and give him glory, for the hour of his judgment has come; and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the fountain of the water" (Rev 14:7).

THIS WEEKS PRAYER

This week ask God to shine His light into every area of your life so that you can walk in total freedom and transparency before Him. Ask Him to use you to carry his truth and His presence to those you influence. Pray that a great awakening would spread throughout our nation and that God would purge His church and our government from all unrighteousness. Ask Him to pour His Spirit on all nations and manifest His glory on the earth. Continue to pray for Israel, the Middle East and our troops. John 3:16

UP- COMING SINGING IN AREA

The Harvest Center church is preparing to celebrate two very special events.

Singer-song writer-musician Ronny Hinson will be appearing Sunday, March 11, 2007, at 6:00 PM. It will be an evening of music and song as Ronny Hinson sings many of the songs he has written and is known for. For many years, Ronny Hinson sang with the original gospel singing group, The Hinsons of Nashville, Tennessee. The song he is perhaps best known for is "The Lighthouse."

The second event is Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at 7:00 PM when the Lee University Philharmonic Orchestra will provide the community with an evening of music as only this group of accomplished musicians can. From Cleveland, Tennessee, 60 of the university's best musicians will present a variety of music. Music lovers of all genres will be pleased with this evening of superb music.

We had a great time last night . First we ate a variety of soups and cornbreads. The best cook's in all the world come to Browntown Church. Emeril should come here for cooking lessons. Next we watched "One Night With The King". We had a great time. Christians have fun but without the headache.

News from India

Hello folks,

I have just returned from another tribal village area. We went in the rain. Walked 2 kilometers in the rain and then ministered in such a 'National Geographic area" that you wouldn't believe. But how rewarding. This is a place full of animist worship and witchcraft. Today after the message, during prayer time 2 were delivered from demons, and others healed. We ate with them and then they walked us half way, then more words of encouragement to them, and we walked the rest of the way out of the village field area to the waiting auto rickshaw.

Last night we were also in a different tribal village where we had to walk through the dark through the fields to the village. This is ministry in its purest form and I am so blessed of God to be part of it.

We are getting ready to move to another area which means we will leave Pastor Paritosh and his family. This has been a full 2 days with ministry to pastors and leaders yesterday, the 2 tribal villages, and ministry to the Pastor and his family. It has been my privilege to work with his young son, Jason, 15, and share the Word with him.

Do continue to keep me in your prayers and the work in India. We are in a very great battle for the salvation of this land. We leaders are also being put to the test. Please pray our strength in the Lord and His provision for every need. Without HIM we can do nothing!

FEW GOOD FOLLOWERS

A young woman was filling out an application for college when she
came across the question: Are you a leader? She thought she had
better be brutally honest, so she answered, "No." She was convinced
when she sent the application in that she'd never hear from them
because of that answer.

But she received a letter back from the school that read: "We have
reviewed numerous applications and, to date, there will be some 1,452
new leaders attending school next year. We have decided to accept
your application because we felt it was imperative that they have at
least one follower."

One man bought a sign and put it on his office door. The sign read:
"I'm the boss." The next day he came to work he noticed that someone
had put a post-it on his sign that said, "Your wife called. She wants
her sign back."

We can't all be the boss. And what good are leaders without
followers? In actuality, we need to be both.

Sometimes we lead, sometimes we follow. We lead by example, but we
still follow role models. We lead by sharing our expertise, but we
remain open to the wisdom of others.

There are numerous courses and lessons on leadership. Yet the best
leaders are also excellent followers. They know how to listen, they
respect and follow great ideas from those around them, and they are
humble enough to seek help when it's needed.

You may be the boss, but do you know how to follow? This world could
use a few good followers.

I'm Here But I'm Not All Their.

This year has been the most difficult time of my life. On Jan. 2nd my dad had a stroke and was in Huntsville Hospital for 15 days before leaving this walk of life. Then on Jan. 29 Brother Dellmer Boozer passed, I had known this man of God all my life. But God, is faithful and I want everyone to know that He has been with me and God is working a great thing in all of this. For the past 3 weeks my Bro. and his wife and girls have been with us in church, my Sister and her husband have also been with us. We praise God for what He is doing, and I thank you for your prayers, God has and is answering prayer.

This week, thank God for His indescribable gift and celebrate the reason for the season. Ask God to use you as His powerful, loving instrument to spread the Good News of His coming. A-B-C METHOD OF MANAGING ATITUDES

As an airport skycap checked through a customer at curbside, he accidentally knocked over the man's luggage. He quickly collected the fallen bags and apologized for the mishap. Unappeased, the traveler burst into an angry tirade, raging and swearing at the skycap for his clumsiness. Throughout the traveler's rant, the baggage handler simply apologized and smiled. The angry man continued to berate the skycap, until he finally headed off to catch his plane. Even then the baggage handler remained calm and passively smiled.The next customer in line witnessed the incident and marveled at the skycap's professionalism and control. "I have never seen such restraint and humility," he said. "How do you keep your cool when somebody is attacking you so viciously?""It's easy," the skycap answered. "He's going to Denver, but his bags are going to Detroit."That is certainly ONE way of managing attitudes, but here is a moreconstructive approach.you heard of the A-B-C method of managing your attitude? It's simple and effective.

"A" stands for the "Activating Event." Let's say you get stuck intraffic. The traffic jam is the activating event.

"B" stands for your "Belief System." You believe that traffic is only getting worse and you'll have more and more days like this ahead.

"C" stands for the "Consequence of the Event." You become angry. You want to honk your horn. Your stomach is tied in knots and you bangthe dashboard with your fist.

The problem is...most people jump directly from "A" to "C." They get stuck in traffic and become angry. They think the traffic jam made them upset. They don't realize that they didn't HAVE to get angry.They skipped an important step!Let's try it again:

"A" - you get stuck in traffic.

"B" - you believe that you were given some unexpected and extra time to spend in solitude, to listen to a great tape or to plan your day.

"C" - the consequence is that you feel gratitude for the gift of time.I have a friend who is fond of saying, "A traffic jam has no power tomake us angry. It just stops our car." He is aware that between the activating event and the consequence is something that we control: our beliefs about what is happening.The next time you have a problem -- at home or at work, big or small -- decide to manage your attitude toward it. Practice the A-B-C method. You probably can't change "A," the activating event. But try changing "B," your beliefs about the problem. When you change yourbeliefs, you also change "C," the consequences of the situation.It's as simple as A-B-C. Manage your beliefs, and you'll manage to be a lot happier! Steve Gooder

How To Be Happy For A Lifetime

Someone said this about happiness:To be happy for an hour -- take a nap.
To be happy for a day -- go shopping.
To be happy for a week -- take a vacation.
To be happy for a month -- get married.
To be happy for a year -- inherit a fortune.
To be happy for a lifetime -- help others.
You and I may argue with a couple of points on that list, but the author is exactly right about how to be happy for the rest of your life. Lasting contentment can always be found in helping others. It is truly a secret that many people have never discovered! Marion Preminger stumbled upon it and wrote about where lasting happiness is to be found in her auto biography ALL I WANT IS EVERYTHING. Born in Hungary in 1913, Marion was raised in a castle, surrounded by wealth, servants and the notoriety of an aristocratic upbringing. At a Viennese ball, she met a handsome young man, the son of an Italian doctor. They rushed into a marriage that lasted only ayear.She returned to Vienna to embark on a career of acting. There she fell in love with the German director Otto Preminger. They married and she followed him to America where he began a promising career as a Hollywood movie director. But her new Hollywood life style could not sustain her marriage and Preminger eventually divorced her.Marion returned to Europe to live the life of a Parisian socialite until 1948. Then everything changed when she read that Dr. Albert Schweitzer was visiting Europe from his home in Africa. She determined to meet with the notable missionary doctor.She first encountered Schweitzer doing one of the things he loved to do best while visiting Europe -- playing a church organ for his own enjoyment. He invited her to dine with him. After the meal, Marion knew she had finally found what she'd been looking for. She accompanied Schweitzer every day during the remainder ofhis European visit. He invited Marion to come back to Africa with himand work as an untrained staff member in the Lamberene hospital.She left her life of status and ease and moved to Africa.Once there, the girl who was raised like a princess became a servant.She changed bandages, bathed bodies and fed lepers. She gave her lifeaway to the poor and, because of it, found the happiness she'd craved for so long.It was Albert Schweitzer who asserted, "One thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve."However, wherever and whom ever you choose to help is unimportant.There are those in need everywhere. This week thank the Lord for the many blessings that we have and that we are able to bless others as we are blessed. Pray that those serving in the military will receive God’s love through the outpouring of cards, letters and packages being sent to them. Pray for their families during this Thanksgiving season and ask God to help you reach out to others in need during this time. Continue to pray for protection from terrorism within and without our borders. Pray for the newly elected legislative body, a smooth governmental transition and godly wisdom for all concerned. Remember Israel, the persecuted church and those suffering around the world. I John 4:7-8

THIS WEEKS PRAYER

Thank God this week that although we do not always understand His ways, we can rest in the assurance of His presence and continual guidance. Continue to pray for our nation’s leaders and those newly elected into office. As you pray for the protection of Israel and our own borders, pray that the spirit of repentance would descend upon our churches and throughout the nation. Pray that America would turn back to God, be a beacon of righteousness and finance God’s kingdom around the world. Remember to pray for the persecuted church and for each continent by name. KEEPING HOPE ALIVE

We cannot live only on hope. But neither can we live without it. Nobody knew this better than John Chapman. John Chapman was a man of great hope. He was born in 1774 inMassachusetts. In the early 1800's he got in on the opening of landin the Northwest Territory, as it was then called, of the new United States. He found small plots of land suitable for farming and cleared them by hand. He bought fruit seed in Pennsylvania every year and carried it to his many apple orchards, usually on his back the trees were large enough to transplant, he sold them to settlers homesteading the West. Eventually, he had little apple orchards spread around what would become the states of Ohio,Michigan, Illinois and Indiana. Most people forgot, or never knew, his real name, and took to calling him Johnny the Apple Man or JohnnyAppleseed. Johnny was a gentle man with a big vision. He was liked by most people who knew him, the native Indians and white settlers alike.His vision was to spread the goodness of apple trees everywhere people settled. Apples, he believed, gave the promise of harvest and hope that the wilderness would become home. Every tree he grew was a symbol of hope. Johnny had another curious habit. He loved books, but did not have the means to carry more than two, usually a Bible and a book of inspiration or theology. Because Johnny wanted to share his books, he carefully cut chapters out of whatever inspirational book he had available and loaned one or two chapters to families that wanted to read. He'd later swap those chapters for others when he came back through. In this way he left hope and encouragement wherever he traveled. His grave can be found today in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It says, "Johnny Appleseed (John Chapman). He lived for others."Johnny understood his greatest task in life: to keep hope alive. When we keep hope alive, then hope keeps us alive.

Men's Support Group Meeting

We had a great time in the Lord last night. The anointing of God was so powerful Chad Sizemore led us in worship and shared his testimony. Several other men shared spontaneously as the Spirit inspired them. Men were coming forth for prayer and God was delivering.Others were seeking to be filled with His Spirit. God is still restoring lives, He is blessing and we are looking to Him for guidance and direction for the future of this ministry.

You know you are too old to Trick or Treat when:

10. You get winded from knocking on the door.
9. You have to have another kid chew the candy for you.
8. You ask for high fiber candy only.
7. When someone drops a candy bar in your bag, you lose your balance and fall over.
6. People say: "Great Boris Karloff Mask," and you're not wearing a mask.
5. When the door opens you yell, "Trick or ...." and can't remember the rest.
4. By the end of the night, you have a bag full of restraining orders.
3. You have to carefully choose a costume that won't dislodge your hairpiece.

YOUTH CONFERENCE 2007

Dear Friend,

I have bad news. Due to a conflict of dates with another event here at the International Offices, I must CANCEL the YOUTH CONFERENCE scheduled for March 16-18, 2007 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This was an innocent oversight on my part which could negatively impact the other event scheduled for the same date. I (along with others) have worked very hard to find an alternate date and site, but with no success. I’m very sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this might cause.

Let’s take the positive approach. This gives us a head start on 2008 conference planning, fundraising, etc. Stay tuned for 2008 dates coming in the near future. God has something better—something greater for youth and young adults, youth leaders, and youth ministries! Keep the ReVolution momentum going in your local youth group, state/regional activities, but especially in your heart—live out loud every day. Every day is a new opportunity to serve Jesus by serving others!

October has been a wonderful time for us at Browntown. We had a week of revival services which is unheard of any more and yesterday was the finally of Pastor's Appreciation Month and Family Day with 84 in attendance.

Wow, what a great time. It was in the top 5 of conferences I've been to in my life. The information we received was presented in a applicable format and was biblical supported.
I'm looking forward to studing and applying the miteral that I purchased.

Harvest Festival

We want to invite everyone to come join us Saturday evening for a great time. We have planned games and candy for the young children, chili, hotdogs, and other wonderful stuff for everyone. We will also have a hay ride, bonfire and singing under the stars. Fun starts at 5:00 p.m.

THIS WEEKS PRAYER

This week ask God to give you a passion for Him, first and foremost. Then ask Him to reveal what He has placed within your heart that burns with passion and propels you toward the your destiny. Pray for the upcoming elections. Ask God to reveal anything that is displeasing to him within our government, and to spur us on to pray, support and vote for those of His choosing. Continue to pray for our military and their families, the situation in the Middle East, the protection of Israel and wisdom for President Bush and those in authority with him. Matt. 9:29

WHAT ARE YOU FILLED WITH?

I recall reading that a man from Virginia Beach filed a law suit against his hospital. He opted to have surgery in order to lose weight. So he had his stomach stapled -- a procedure that reduced the size of his stomach so he couldn't eat as much. A couple of days after surgery he sneaked down the hospital corridors to the kitchen. There he raided the refrigerator and ate so much that his staples burst.The law suit? He claimed it was all the hospital's fault. They should have locked the refrigerator. No, I don't know how the suit came out...just the staples. If the first sin was eating the forbidden fruit, then the second was trying to excuse it. "It's not my fault! SHE made me do it!"Wonderful things can happen when we decide to be responsible for everything we put into our mouths, everything we put into our mindsand everything we put into our hearts. Fill your body with the right foods and it will perform well. Fill your mind with learning and it will not stagnate. Fill your mind with optimistic attitudes and you will always have hope. Fill your heart with courage and you will be able to face life with confidence.Fill your heart with love and you'll never be alone. Fill every day will plenty of gratitude and you will always be happy. Only you can decide how to fill up your life. Albert Ellis has said, "The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own. You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president. You realize that you control your own destiny."Only you can choose what goes into your life. Advice comes in all shapes and sizes. For instance, someone gave the sage advice: "If you dance with a grizzly bear, you had better let him lead." No argument here. Or this, found in a fortune cookie: "You are a poor, pathetic, gullible fool who seeks advice from bakery products."Conrad Hilton, hotelier extraordinaire, was asked on national television if he had one vital bit of advice for listeners. "Please,"he said, "place the curtain on the INSIDE of the tub."It's been accurately said that there is a lot of advice available for nothing, and most of it is worth about what we paid for it. But here is sound guidance, from an unknown author, worth taking to heart:
"If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive; for that person has helped you learn about trust and the importance of caution.
If someone loves you, love back unconditionally; that one is teaching you to love.

THIS WEEKS PRAYER

Pray according to Psalm 139 this week and ask the Lord to search your heart and reveal anything that is not pleasing to Him. Ask Him to lead you away from evil and into His perfect way. As wickedness is a focus this month, pray protection over our children, schools, teachers, administrators and communities. Your Life -- It's on Loan!

I like to take long walks in the cemetery. I've noticed something about the hundreds of people beneath the cemetery ground. None of them kept their bodies! They each were given a body to use -- some for a short time and some for many years. But they all gave those bodies up. And that is true with their things, too. They came into the world with nothing and they left the things of this world behind.Everything. Their bodies; their money; their responsibilities; their families; and, all of their things!
An old story tells of a grandmother and her grandson walking the beach. The little boy spotted a dead pelican in the sand. "What happened to that bird?" he asked."That pelican died and went to heaven to be with God," explained his grandmother, in hopes of soothing the child.Still puzzled, he asked, "Well, why did God throw him back?"
I rented a car recently. The rental papers indicated that the carwas "dented all over." I looked closely and, sure enough, it was covered with little, round dents! Every door, the hood, the roof and the trunk were affected. The car looked as if it had been caught in a severe hail storm.The damage was only visible upon close inspection, so it didn't particularly bother me that it was dented. I drove the vehicle for afew days and returned it to the rental agency. It wasn't my car. I knew I couldn't keep it if I wanted to.Our bodies are like loaner vehicles. They are ours to use, but not ours to keep. We must care for them and maintain them, for the better shape they are in, the longer we may borrow them. But we will someday turn them back in. We were fortunate enough to be given bodies to usefor a while, but sometime they will become sick, damaged or simply worn out, and we will need to return them.This simple concept is one of the most transforming, comforting and freeing truths I have come to know. I have been given thee xtraordinary gift of a body to use for a season, and a few things ofthis world to enjoy for a time. But NONE of these are mine to keep.Therefore, I will guard against becoming too attached, for I know Imust give it all up someday.I can live freed from unnecessary worry about myself. It's all on loan. Mine to use well and enjoy for a time. And then, when I returnit all, I will give it back in gratitude and joy, thankful that I even got to use it at all!

How Long Do We Have ?

About the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution, in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:1. From bondage to spiritual faith;2. From spiritual faith to great courage;3. From courage to liberty;4. From liberty to abundance;5. From abundance to complacency;6. From complacency to apathy;7. From apathy to dependence;8. From dependence back into bondage ."Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:
Population of counties won by: Gore: 127 million; Bush: 143 million;
Square miles of land won by: Gore: 580,000; Bush: 2,427,000
States won by: Gore: 19; Bush: 29
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Gore: 13.2 Bush: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the tax-paying citizens of this great country. Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off government welfare..."Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some 40 percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.Pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

This week ask the Lord to help you set your priorities and order your day. Spend daily quality time in prayer and ask God to help you set boundaries and say “no” when needed. As you pray for those closest to you remember the persecuted church, those giving their lives for the gospel and those serving in the military. Pray that God would have His way in the upcoming elections and that we would focus on what’s important to Him. At the 94th International General Assembly of the Church of God of Prophecy, then General Overseer-Select Bishop Randy Howard invited the global Church to be a part of 100 Days of Prayer. Men's Support Group Meeting

We had 23 men come together today for a fish fry and a wonderful time of fellowship, the Lord is doing great things in these meetings.

Edna Horton Passes Away

Sis. Horton (Connie Pattersons mother) passed away this afternoon. Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Graveside at Memory Hill Gardens in Tuscaloosa. Visitation will be at the church from 10 to 12 Saturday morning.

Update on Justin Wallace

Justin was in a motorcycle accident Sunday evening. God is answering the prayers. Surgery today on neck, and back to fuse the broken bones. Vitals stabilized and the spleen healed without surgery. Continue to pray for Justin and his family.

Funeral Arrangements - Elbert Butler

The family will receive friends at 4:00 PM Friday at the Crossville Funeral Home.
The funeral will follow in the funeral home chapel at 7:00 PM Friday.
Burial will be Saturday morning at Liberty Hill cemetery.

Call for 100 Days of Prayer

Overseer Bishop Randy Howard is asking all those who will to join him in 100 days of prayer. His desire is for God to empower this church into greater ministry avenues than we have ever seen before, and to find our purpose in the kingdom of God for these last days harvest. True Story from Aniston Church

This morning, a church member's son-in-law, Kevin Finch was shot and killed by his neighbor. The incident resulted from a prior incident of the neighbor killing one of Kevin's dogs and because another of his dogs chewed up a sprayer.Thirty-one year old Kevin was going over to his neighbor, unarmed, to tell the man that he would fence his yard so that his dog wouldn't roam free and that he (Kevin) would pay for the repairs to the neighbor's sprayer. When Kevin stepped out in the road between their houses, the neighbor shot him three times. Kevin died before the emergency team could arrive. Kevin leaves a young wife and two small children. Please pray for Elizabeth Finch and her children.

Funny of the Day

A visiting minister was very long-winded. Worse, every time he would make a good point during his sermon and a member of the congregation responded with "Amen" or "That's right, preacher" he would get wound up even more and launch into another lengthy discourse. Finally, the host pastor started responding to every few sentences with "Amen, Pharaoh!" The guest minister wasn't sure what that meant, but after several more "Amen, Pharaohs" he finally concluded his very lengthy sermon. After the service concluded and the congregation had left, the visiting minister turned to his host and asked, "What exactly did you mean when you said "Amen, Pharaoh?"His host replied, "I was telling you to let my people go!"

Prophecy Being Fulfilled Daily

Before you watch it, read this:
Matt 24:3-5 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Matt 24:23-25 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before.

Now, watch the clip. Jesus knew what He was talking about. (if you have dial-up, it's worth the wait to let it download). This guy has millions of followers. How close are we to Jesus coming back to the earth? The deception is only going to get worse! We need to pray for wisdom and gain it by studying our Bibles diligently each day!

Afraid Of Risk ?

An old poem by Richard Armour makes a good point: The bride, white of hair, is stooped over her cane, Her faltering footsteps need guiding. While down the church aisle, with wan toothless smile, The groom in a wheelchair comes riding. And who is this elderly couple you ask? You'll find, when you've closely explored it, That here is that rare, most conservative pair, Who waited 'til they could afford it. Are you ever afraid to take a risk? Afraid to commit because of an uncertain future? Afraid of failing? Not that anyone would wait an entire life before taking a chance on marriage, but do you tend to wait until all possible risks are minimized before setting out in a new direction?Though caution and common sense are certainly important, sometimes a
risk is called for. As the late William Arthur Ward wisely said:
To laugh is to risk appearing a fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach out for another is to risk involvement.
To expose feelings is to risk revealing your true self.
To place you ideas, your dreams, before a crowd is to risk rejection.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk disappointment.
To try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
Those who risk nothing, do nothing, have nothing, and become nothing.
They may avoid present suffering and sorrow, but they will not learn, feel, change, grow, love, or live. Chained by their fear, they are slaves who have forfeited their freedom. Only a person who risks is free. The pessimist complains about the wind; The optimist expects it to change; And the realist adjusts the sails. Is fear preventing you from taking a necessary risk today?

THIS WEEKS PRAYER

This week ask the Holy Spirit to bring to the surface anything that is rooted in your soul that is not like Christ so that it can be dealt with and removed. Ask Him to create a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you. Pray that all nations would be free to worship God in spirit and in truth. Pray for a change of regime in Iran that would bring religious freedom to the people and an end to tyranny. Pray for closure to the war in Iraq, the protection of Israel and the protection of our major cities, ports, boundaries, and military bases around the world. Ps. 51:10; John 14:30

THIS WEEKS PRAYER

As we remember the events of 9/11 five years ago, pray that we would heed the admonition of 2 Chronicles 7:14 and humble ourselves before God. Pray for the upcoming elections and ask God to move His people to vote for the ones of His choosing in each state and on the national level. Continue to pray for the crisis in Israel, Lebanon and the rest of the Middle East. Pray that Iraq would establish a strong democratic government and solve its internal problems so that our troops could return home safely. Pray that God will work through you to bring His message of love and hope to those around you. Psalm 91; 2 Chronicles 7:14

9/11 The Day America Changed

After five year the pain and sorrow continues. Let us remember in prayer those families that lost loved ones on this day. May they be comforted by the loving touch of God's Spirit and find the grace to forgive and let go of any anger or strife. Pray also for those that are fighting for peace. Our hearts desire is for the peace of God to reign.

Men's Support Group

God is continuing to bless our men's group, we had 12 for Breakfast Saturday and 13 in the meeting Thursday night. We are haveing a fish fry Octoder 7. If your men would like to come join us please let me know. We plan to eat at 4:00 p.m. then we will gather for service around 6:00 p.m.

Quite adifferent spirit is found in a business magazine ad that pictures a newborn baby with the caption: "Only 22,463 days until retirement."The ad is cute, but it picks up on a spirit of our day. It is a spirit of worry and anxiety. It is a spirit that tells us, "You don't know what the future holds! It is likely to be bleak; even disastrous! You can never be too careful!" You know what spirit I mean.I have always believed in the future. And I will look forward to it with great anticipation. Why shouldn't I make friends with the future? After all, I intend to spend the rest of my life there! I am intrigued by a story about a bishop back in the 1870s. Thebishop had charge of a small denominational college. Annually, he visited the school and stayed in the home of the president.The bishop was a narrow thinker with a dim view of the future. He told the school president during one of those visits that everything that could be invented had already been invented.The administrator disagreed. Pray for the persecuted church and ask the Lord to strengthen those tortured and imprisoned for their faith. Continue to pray for the overthrow of tyrannical governments, the protection and peace of Israel, and the spread of the gospel throughout the Middle East. John 10:3-5; Hebrews 13:8

This week pray that the Spirit of God would shine through you and bring the light of His presence into the dark world around you. Ask Him to so fill you that people would be drawn to Him and you'd have the opportunity to share His love, healing and salvation with them. Pray for the upcoming elections so that the nation would shift back to its biblical roots. Pray for wisdom, courage and protection for the president, our borders, ports, transportation systems, water supply and major cities. Pray for our military and their families and for God's purposes to be fulfilled in Israel, the Middle East and our own nation. John 8:12; Phil. 2:15
